Sweet and Sour Cabbage
Ingredients
2 cups shredded cabbage (1/4 head)
1 medium apple
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 Tbsp plus 2 tsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp water
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp caraway seed
Tools Needed
1 chef’s knife
1 cutting board
set dry measuring cups
1 set measuring spoons
1 large saucepan with lid
1 wooden spoon
Steps:
Cut the cabbage into small 1/4-inch slices. Cut the apple into 3/4-inch cubes.
Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, vinegar, water, salt, and caraway seed.
Add the red cabbage and apple, stirring to coat them with the sauce. Cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
For crisp cabbage, cook for 15 minutes.
For tender cabbage, cook for 30 minutes.
