Spirit Rae has worked in almost every role at Kids Cook! - from running online classes during Covid, to teaching as an educator, running events and First Friday Nights, and managing food procurement.

She most recently has taken on the role of Nutrition Education Manager, where she helps guide and train other KC! educators to be successful in the classroom! Spirit Rae became the educator at Kirtland this year, after several years at Lavaland, but you might catch a glimpse of her at each of the campuses we serve as she observes educators throughout our cooking units.

Before working at Kids Cook! what was the most interesting job you’ve had?

When I was younger I worked at a fine dining restaurant called Valley Café. It was my most exciting job prior to working at KC! because I was passionate about what I cooked and was able to be creative with my dishes I served. Working in a kitchen and running a dinner rush is exhilarating!

What have you gained from working at Kids Cook! ?

I have been blessed with a wonderful school and work community and grown life-long friendships which I am very grateful for!

What three words would you use to describe working at Kids Cook!?

Community, Exciting, and Gratitude

Do you have a favorite quote or motivational phrase?

For every job there is to be done there is an element of fun!

How would you describe yourself as a 10-year-old?

I was adventurous, observant, and silly!

What three things would you want if you were alone on an island?

Matches, a water purifier, and seeds to grow into food.

Where is the best place you've traveled to and why?

St Lucia Island, everyone on the island has such amazing attitudes and outlooks on life!

Is there anything else you want to share?

My favorite fruits are avocados, strawberries and mangos
