Nutrition Educator

Jennifer just crossed the 15-year mark of calling Albuquerque home last month! She joined Kids Cook! at the start of this school year and teaches classes at Chaparral Elementary.

Read on to find out more about Jennifer, her Kids Cook! experience and how many states she’s visited below.

Before working at Kids Cook! what was the most interesting job you’ve had?

When I was in high school, I worked for Princess Cruise Lines. I lived in Seattle, so my job was one of those people who holds the airport sign for you when you would get off your plane and I would take you to your bus to catch your cruise to Alaska!

What have you gained from working at Kids Cook! ?

New cooking skills! I have learned a lot of new recipes and proper cutting and cooking techniques.

What three words would you use to describe working at Kids Cook!?

Fun, Interactive, Hands-On.

Do you have a favorite quote or motivational phrase?

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

How would you describe yourself as a 10-year-old?

Shy and quiet. I spent a lot of time observing and thinking things over. Doesn't look like much is happening, but under the facade, I've got a lot going on. I am still the same as an adult... just not as quiet!

What three things would you want if you were alone on an island?

1) music
2) warm showers
3) chapstick

If you could be anyone for a day, who would you choose and why?

My kids. It would be interesting to see me through their eyes. Am I doing a good job? Where do they need more attention?

Where is the best place you've traveled to and why?

I took my kids on a 7-week road trip across the country last summer. It would be hard to pick one specific place, but we had a blast in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Lots of hiking, waterfalls, lakes, rivers... it was beautiful.

What is the most important thing you've learned in the last five years?

To take risks, even if you're fearful or not sure what you are doing.

Is there anything else you want to share?

I’m a mom to 9-year-old twins. We all love to travel. My kids and I have been to 28 states so far!
