Gaby has lived in Albuquerque for 15 years, but started working with Kids Cook! this school year. In addition to being an educator, she stepped into a new role as food procurement manager this spring!

Before working at Kids Cook! what was the most interesting job you’ve had?

I used to manage privately owned MVD offices, I did everything from registering motor vehicles (both individual and with car dealerships), training new employees, public notary and document translations.

What have you gained from working at Kids Cook! ?

I've learned a lot about nutrition so that I can help students and their families enjoy balanced meals. Also my coworkers feel like a work family that love and support each other.

What three words would you use to describe working at Kids Cook!?

Fun, rewarding and gratifying

Do you have a favorite quote or motivational phrase?

If you could be anyone for a day, who would you choose and why?

An astronaut because I would like to see Earth from outer space.

How would you describe yourself as a 10-year-old?

Super shy but I loved showing off the beautiful dresses my mom used to make for me - I always felt like a princess!

What three things would you want if you were alone on an island?

A tent, a knife and a cutting board.

Where is the best place you've traveled to and why?

Orlando, Florida! My husband and I got to take our kids to DisneyWorld and it was amazing seeing them smile all day long, also we got to go to the beach which I love!!

What is the most important thing you've learned in the last five years?

Patience and understanding because everyone grows and learns at a different pace.

Is there anything else you want to share?

I have been married for 12 years and we have 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl), I love my family and love baking and cooking for them. I enjoy going on long walks at the Bosque, helping out in my community and going on family trips.
